Rozzy's Southern Home

San Diego has the most perfect weather ever but my true home is Georgia, and I love love love visiting my family (although once a year is not nearly often enough). My mom flew me in to take care of my retarded sister Gretl while she was out of town for a chiropractor conference in Denver. This may sound weird, but I feel a special affinity and great compassion for Gretl and was so excited to take her out and "paint the town red". My first day there I totally redecorated her room Disney Princess Style (she loves Disney Princesses and everywhere we go will point out anything that has a princess on it.) My sister had a stroke a couple months ago and had not slept in her bedroom since then (maybe she associates her room with the tramatic event) so it was a big deal that she slept in her new princess room when it was done. I repainted her room and also made satin curtains and a matching lamp cover to got with them--I had fun being creative and doing it the cheap way at the same time. Here are the results:

After the room was done then we girls went to do what we do best--shop! I took Gretl to the mall and we tried as much free makeup, lotion, etc. that we could at Sephora and once we were all prettied up then we headed over to Forever 21 and other trendy places to try stuff on. Gretl loves going places where there are a lot of people around and she is very social--I even caught her flirting with the young man at the subway in the food court--she was very obvious about the fact that she thought he was cute because she stood right in front of him and stared and then started flipping her hair and making googly eyes.

Of course we made a trip to the Disney store, Gretl had to get her fairy wings.

....and her princess crown.

The day was not over yet, my sweet sister watches plenty of movies at home but she had never been to the movie theater so we had to go (we saw "Toothfairy" which is very cute). Of course us girls need our sugar so TCBY was a must after the movie. I noticed Gretl zonked out soon after we got home--we really did shop till we dropped.

I also got to spend time with my wonderful mother (aka my best friend). She is amazing! My mom is one of those people who is full of energy and is just entertaining to be around--she also is constantly learning and is full of information. I watched her teach a seminar to a group of 60 people--it was all about healthy cooking, particularly using raw foods. I learned a lot and have already started using more coconut milk, apple cider vinegar, and seriously considering going organic in my cooking since I got home as a result. It is so fun to be healthy. My mom has lost 30 pounds just from eating clean and healthy over the last year or more--she looks great, people say she looks 10 years younger (these pictures are terrible--she looks way better in real life)--she also dresses young now, I think she is more stylish that I am even though she gets most of her clothes at thrift stores.
