Rode my first Earthquake

I thoroughly enjoyed and was edified by general conference on Easter weekend, and promptly fell asleep right after the last session Sunday...only to be jolted awake by a rumbling sound and the condo shaking back and forth. Usually, I am a very deep sleeper, and you know how it is when you wake up and you are still half in a daze anyway. I have never lived anywhere near "earthquake country" before I got married 2 years ago so all I knew to do was get in a doorway. I jumped up and stood in the doorway while yelling for Dan to answer in the other room, "Dan, its an earthquake, its an earthquake (duh, like he didn't already realize that)" It went on for a while and I just watched as our 62 inch TV shook back in forth threatening to fall over, and the hanging lights swung back and forth like a tree swing. Actually, I do not remember feeling scared while it was happening, it just felt like I was on a ride or something, maybe if things were falling down around me or on top of me it would have been scarier though. Immediately after it was over, we tried calling family and friends and could not get through the cell phone lines and since we don't have TV we started looking for information about it online. Turns out it was a 7.2 earthquake centered 2 hours away in Mexico, they had been having them all week.

Just found out today that another big earthquake is predicted to happen this week in Southern California, some people say its a rumor and other sources say its legit (it makes sense to me that if the plates shift once then it will trigger a ripple effect for them to shift more). I recently learned that it is outdated to get in a doorway and you should really get under a sturdy piece of furniture instead. We also put some emergency supplies in the trunk of our car just in case and on hand at home too. Whatever happens, all I keep thinking is that it is the signs of the times and each earthquake just proves further that we live in the last days when the Savior will come, so bring it on!
