Our original plan was to drive out to Arizona for Thanksgiving since Daniel's oldest sister was hosting Turkey day at her house and a lot of his family would be there. Well, in the last couple months, ever since Daniel's computer crashed and we had to get a new one,we have gotten way behind in keeping track of our finances in Quick Books. Daniel has been working so much that we didn't have time to get it in order until now since he had time off for Thanksgiving. Once we started working on it, we just weren't able to make it out of town. I was insistant that we make more of a memory than just accounting for our first Thanksgiving so we decided to go on a camping trip to Big Bear in the mountains of California. Our plan B turned out to be pretty fun.

Since I had no food in the house to cook Thanksgiving dinner at home, we did "whitetrash" christmas at Hometown buffet ($11.99 all you can eat meal). There was a line that wrapped around the building, but once we got in it was worth it--they had everything you could ever want to eat and it was actually super good.

These are the plates we started with, yummy. Before we were done I ate two more plates of food than what you see here--Dan and I are both big eaters!

After we stuffed ourselves, we both fought over who got to lay in the back of the element on the way home.

Right after dinner, we headed 2 hours north to the mountains for our camping adventure. This is dan doing more accounting in the car on the ride up to Big Bear.
We have the best car ever for road trips because you can just sleep in the back. We didn't even bring a tent, but had our foam mattresses and comfy blankets as a bed in the back. We set up our laptop in the element and watched a Christmas movie once we were situated in our spot in the woods. It was so nice to see a million stars and be all cozy in the mountains with the scent of pine in the air.

I had a funny mishap as soon as we got there, I went to the bathroom in the woods and didn't squat enough so I ended up peeing my pants, and I hadn't brought a change of pants. This is me the next morning using a towel to cover up my bottom--as you can see my pants are on the roof of the car (where i put them to dry the night before) but instead it got so cold that night that the wet spots turned to frost and ice.

Dan the next day, with frost everywhere, at our camp spot, it was right by a lake you just can't see it in this picture

This is the gorgeous view of mist, fog, and green mountains we saw on the car ride out

Cool views! It felt like we were flying since the clouds were right under us on the way out.

We plan to see family for Christmas, but having a spontaneous Thanksgiving worked out this year.
